These dates and venues have been selected to provide an opportunity for our social members to come along and dive a couple of areas that are popular for competition as well as having some great fish. The dates fall a couple of weeks prior to the Taylor Shield being held at these locations allowing for scouting as a bonus to any Taylor Shield competitors who wish to come along. A number of boat rides will be available for those wishing to take part.This is a great chance for rock hoppers to jump in with experienced boat divers to get a feel for this style of diving.

Meet at 8am at the Boat Ramp Currarong, on Beecroft Parade. This spot offers great shore diving from the Wreck area and great shallow diving spots from a boat.

We will plan for a 3 - 4 hour dive depending on conditions.

Scales will be available.

Light refeshments will be provided.

Limited spots are available in boats provided by club members.Please contact Joe on his mobile as it will be first in, first in the boats.

Rock hoppers are also very welcome.

Social Dive Report - May 2011

A nice morning was had on Sunday 21st, as 10 clubies and newbies came along to see what was around the rocks off Kiama Downs. This is a great little spot for rock hopping. There is plenty of spots to access the water safely as long as the swell is not too big. Once in the water you can swim around the headland or just hang about in one spot.

This is also the place to have a look for a lobster which usually helps to keep your wife happy. A couple of decent fish including morwong could be found even though it was pretty poor visibility. Joe had some positive feedback from a Canberra diver on meeting some of our club members for the first time."Thanks again for the yesterday dive, that was great. I watched my footage and it is quite good.
I will join the club shortly cause everyone looks very friendly and social dive can be interesting for me.".

Barracuda's Social Club, General Information

In March of 2010 a proposal was put forward to start a social club for new members who may not wish to take part in regular competition. The committee accepted the proposal and will begin as of April 2010.

Guidelines

Must be USFA financial - This is an annual fee of $50 for seniors, $25 for juniors. This can be paid on the first day. This fee covers the diver and club for insurance. This USFA membership will also allow the diver to compete at championship events throughout the year .eg Far South Coast Champions.

Must pay a $10 social member fee to the club-

Again this can be paid on the day,. This fee contributes to general running of the club, refreshments at events and trophies allocated at the end of the year.

Club run social dives will be held bi-monthly.

These events will be held in various locations that are suitable for boat and rock hop dives.

Social members are elibible to claim NSW State Records.

Fish to be nominated must be taken in NSW waters at any time in that competition year. Photo and a ticket of proof of weight must be provided to the Records Officer of USFA. more information

Social members are elibible to claim the following club trophies.

Most Meritorious fish as per southern zone scoresheet.
Heaviest Fish
Most Meritorious Bluewater Fish ( Ray Schmidt Memorial Trophy)
